As the counseling department at Simeon Career Academy we would like to acknowledge that we follow the American School Counseling Association Model (ASCA) for School Counselors.  We, the Counseling Department at Simeon, strive to provide the finest and most holistic approach to counseling for all students.  We try to provide a counseling approach that encompasses all students, not just the high-achievers or the most at-risk students but every student at Simeon Career Academy.  We are also very adamant about instituting remedial and preventative strategies to students in the realm of academic, personal/social and career competencies.  Our mission and philosophy statements define our belief in the ASCA Model as the backbone to the School Counselor Department at Simeon.

The Simeon Career Academy Counseling Program in collaboration with the faculty, staff, parents, community, local business and industry, will provide all students with academic, career and personal/social development competencies needed to acquire the attitudes, knowledge and skills for success in school and the post graduation phase.  Here at Simeon Career Academy all students will have the opportunity to see the connection between course selection, school achievement and potential careers, in order to become well adjusted responsible members of their academic communities and this ever changing complex world.

The Counselors of Simeon Career Academy believe that given the opportunity and support, our students can and will achieve to the best of their abilities.  We are cognizant of the fact that every student approaches and responds differently to this task of learning.  As a department we welcome and embrace these differences.  We are committed to providing our students with the academic, career and personal/social skills that will encourage them to achieve life long success.

 

It is the charge of the Simeon Counseling Department to support the academic achievement for all Simeon Students.  We believe in the process of educational reform and feel that the Counselors play a pivotal role in this important, ongoing process.
